This & That Fridays – July 22

What’s going on with me:

Maggie’s birthday is next weekend and she’s turning 10!  Sniff…I wish I could just pause time.  Given that it’s a milestone birthday, I think we’re going to throw her a little party at home.  We’ll probably take her for a walk, make her a steak and give her a little ice cream for dinner.  I’ve been trying to decide what to get her but what do you get the dog that has everything.  And yes, I know I’m a little nuts over my dog.  But she’s my baby! #crazydoglady

Anyone following Big Brother this season?  I’m so torn on who to root for – I kinda like Pauly, and I have a love/hate relationship with Frank. but it’d be nice to see a girl win for once!  Unfortunately they always seem to get too distracted by the showmances.

I might pay a visit to Nordstrom this weekend to check out their epic anniversary sale; I’m not sure what is available in Canada vs the US but Nouveau Cheap has a good list of all the beauty items here.

Kurig Kold Drink Maker:  I saw these in a Costco magazine that came in the mail and they sounded SO COOL!  Unfortunately it sounds like it didn’t quite hit the mark and they’ve discontinued it for the time being.  If they actually figure this thing out I’m definitely going to want one.

That Nintendo is releasing the NES Classic Edition which is basically a mini Classic Nintendo pre-loaded with a bunch of classic games.  I totally want one of these!  I need to play ExciteBike again!  Would make a great Christmas list (sorry I mentioned Christmas in July).

This steak marinade literally lives up to its name – it is so.freaking.good I wanted to drink it.

The Secret Life of Pets!  We went and saw it a few weekends ago and it was so good!  Totally met my expectations (and they were high).

Recent purchases…

PC Loads of Cookies N Cream Light Ice Cream Bars:  OMG – these are like a cross between a white chocolate covered oreo cookie and a Hershey’s Cookies & Cream chocolate bar.  Also they contain light ice cream which basically means zero calories.  Right?  #iwish

Eccolo 2017 Planner: I got this planner from Homesense a few weeks ago and it’s been fabulous for keeping me organized, particularly when it comes to my blog.  Plus it was a steal for $9.99!

An update on the Wet & Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner –  So I raved about this in my last This & That Friday post, but I’m sad to say that I tried to use it this week and it’s already dried up.  😦  Seems like this is a common problem but I didn’t have it stored upside down, so I might have to purchase another one and see if that makes a difference.  Stay tuned!

This & That Fridays – June 3

Happy June and Happy Friday everyone!

What’s been going on with me:

Wow it’s been a while since I did a This & That Friday post…and a bit since I posted regularly.  The last few weeks have been a little mad around here.  I was completing a course and purging and organizing my house for an upcoming garage sale and then we headed out on a one week vacation to Mexico to celebrate our anniversary.  I had fully planned on doing up some posts while on vacation but the internet was spotty and I got frustrated and gave up on that idea.  Which actually wasn’t a bad thing!  I checked Instagram and Twitter once in a while but for the most part I spent a lot of time reading books and just relaxing.  The problem being that when I got back I had lost my motivation to blog.  Does that ever happen to you?  Despite being really behind on posts, I just had no desire to sit down and type up anything.  Thankfully I seem to have cleared that hump now and I’m looking forward to getting back into it!  Note that I’ve changed up the format of my This & That Fridays posts – let me know how you like it!

As mentioned above, I was completing a course back in May that was keeping me pretty busy; in line with my 2016 Goals, I registered for and completed a course in Graphic Design.  It was a lot more work than I expected but I absolutely loved it!  I plan on continuing on with the program and I will potentially have an exciting related update later on this year so stay-tuned!

Did you hear?

That Victoria Secret is discontinuing their swimwear line?  I seriously wanted to throw an adult temper tantrum when I heard this – WHY??? WHY???  Apparently they’re not making enough money off of it.  I mean, their quality could sometimes be hit and miss, but I’d be willing to pay a little more if it mean they’d keep it around.  VS is my go-to for swimwear as they typically have cute styles for a reasonable price so I’m sort of at a loss of where I’ll shop for swimwear going forward.  On the bright side I picked up a new top and bottoms for pretty cheap a few weeks ago as they were clearing out their stock.  Sad! 😦

What I’ve bought recently:

Gap Print Halter Romper – I brought this with me to Mexico and it was so comfy and so cute!  Very easy to dress up or down, based on the shoes and accessories.

Tarte Eyelash Curler – I needed a new eyelash curler and it was a toss-up between this one and Shu Umera’s version.  I ended up going with this one and I’m so glad I did.  I used one of these years ago and I forgot how much I love it!  I have a bad habit of pinching my eyelids with my eyelash curler and this eliminates that completely.  Plus it’s so comfortable in my hand and it fits my eye shape perfectly.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream – 2 months after purchase I finally received my order of this CC cream from the Shopping Channel (don’t get me started…) and I hate to say it, but it was worth the wait!  It’s been the only thing I’ve used on my face for the last 2 weeks and I don’t really care to use anything else right now.  I’ll be doing a full review on this in a bit so keep an eye out for it!

What I’m currently coveting:

Gap Linen Surf Shorts – I’ve been having a lot of success at Gap lately and I really like these cozy shorts in Palm Springs Pink.

Glo Brilliant Teeth Whitening Device – I really want something to whiten my teeth – the problem being my teeth are SUPER sensitive with little enamel left on them, so I can’t use simple things like whitening toothpaste or strips.  I hate the price of this but all the reviews say it works with little to no sensitivity.  If you have any other suggestions please share below!

Ikea Falkhojden Desk: I’m looking for a desk for my office and I’ve fallen in like with this one – but I hate that it has zero storage, even with the add-on unit.  Also considering the Kimpen/Lalle.

Emily Noel is one Youtuber that I make a point of watching regularly…and I love this video she posted Wednesday.  Kalee is hilarious!

The last thing I need is another coat for spring/summer…but I’ve been seeing these utility cargo pocket jackets everywhere and I want one.  Like this one from Joe Fresh or this one from Ricki’s.

I fell behind on blogging this week because we had painters in our house and it was hell.  I spent hours vacuuming and dusting only to have everything look the exactly the same hours later.  It was a vicious cycle, exhausting and I never want to do that again.

I got some amazing deals at Costco last weekend. First up they had a 1.18L bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Peppermint Soap for $12.99!  They also had maxi skirts in a variety of colours for $14.99. I just bought a basic black one and its so comfy (and stretchy!).  And for $14.99 you can’t really go wrong!  Costco can be a dangerous place sometimes.

We watched Southpaw last weekend and it was so good!  Jake Gyllenhall (had to look up how to spell that!) was amazing in it; I know it’s been out for a while but we rarely watch movies in theatres.  We also watched Trainwreck which was hilarious but pretty crude.  Typical Amy Schumer though!

Did you see the teaser for the newest Too Faced Chocolate Chip palette?  It’s nothing but a snapshot of the packaging but I’m sure it’ll be amazing like all Too Faced palettes are.  With the white packaging I feel like it should be called the White Chocolate Bar palette or something though…

This rainbow grilled cheese sandwich is all the rage on Instagram and I’m not sure I really understand why.  To me it just looks gross. I’ll pass.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good pair of leggings?  I’ve bought them from Costco but I find them way too thin, and I’ve tried a pair of Hue’s which I love because they’re so soft and comfy but they fade really easily.  I’m heading to the mall today to see what I can find.

I saw a video on Instagram of someone contouring their feet….first up, no.  Secondly, who has time for that?  #toofar

I’ve decided to scale back my This & That Friday posts to once every two weeks instead of every Friday. I think it’s going to be more dynamic this way plus I have a backlog of posts that are just waiting to be written that can easily take its place every other Friday.  🙂

This & That Fridays – April 15

Have you seen the new Lite Brites collection by China Glaze?  I came across Young Wild & Polished’s swatches on Instagram and wow, they all look so beautiful!  I need to see them in person but I think Bite Me and What I Like About Blue are on my list.

The second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is out on Netflix so my weekend plans are set.  Hopefully Season 2 is as good as Season 1.

Two things I love for Spring here, lightweight sweaters and ombre.

This is too funny!  And I can relate – out of all the sports out there, I find baseball the most painful to watch.  It’s so slow and it drags on and on…I can’t get into it.  Go Jays though!

I bought this sweater from Joe Fresh a few weeks ago and I can’t stop wearing it.  It’s so comfy and easy to wear and looks great with leggings and jeans.  The only drawback is that it needs to be hand-washed.  But I love it so much I’ll sacrifice a bit of hand-washing.  I bought it in pink but I think I’m going to pick up the green too.

Waffle iron pizza?  Yes please!

Did you hear that Hudson’s Bay is now carrying Teeez Cosmetics?  I have one of their lipsticks that I received in my Luxe Box and I really like it.  And their packaging is amazing!  Excited to try more of their stuff.

This & That Fridays – April 1

Happy April Fools Day!  Did you prank anyone today or did you get pranked?  I remembered what day it was so I wasn’t fooled by anything.  Here’s a list of the Best April Fool’s Pranks of 2016 – almost all of them are hilarious (i.e. Cornhub? Wigs for Cats? Bahaha!)

Okay so I tried watching Full House a few weeks ago and I just can’t do it.  It’s so cheesy, I couldn’t stand it.  I think the fake audience laughter makes it worse.  Not for me.

Um Kate Spade has a YOGA collection now?  Not sure I could justify over $100 for a tank though…

This is making me crave an Orange Julius…curious if this tastes at all similar to the real thing.

So I recently placed on online order with Express.  I bought a dress and 2 pairs of pants and all 3 were on sale and for whatever reason I stupidly assumed that the prices were in Canadian dollars.  I saw the charge on my credit card and I paid an extra $50 because of exchange and an international processing fee.  THIS is why I don’t shop online at non-Canadian companies!  Grrrr!

I don’t know why, but I’m having such a hard time doing my liquid eyeliner lately, and this meme sums up what every morning has been like for me:

So basically I’m accepting any and all tips on applying liquid eyeliner like a normal person and not be a panda.

I made the best homemade salad dressing this week!  I’m trying to eat healthier, which for me is a bit of a challenge.  I hate vegetables – they always taste bitter to me.  But I can usually stomach a salad so I took a recipe I found online and modified it a bit and it’s delicious – I almost look forward to my salad for dinner. #almost  I’ll be sharing the recipe soon!

This & That Fridays – March 25

Happy Good Friday and Easter weekend!

So yesterday was my one year blogiversary!  I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for an entire year now; I’ve learned so much and feel like I’ve come so far since my very first post (yikes, some of my photography makes me cringe looking back at it).  Anyway I hope to do a giveaway sometime within the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I’m not a fan of Deviled Eggs but these are seriously adorable!

Has anyone tried the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara?  I keep seeing/reading all these reviews on how amazing it is but also that it flakes…why, why, why is it so hard to make a volumizing mascara that doesn’t flake?  I might try it anyway.

I picked up this sundress @ Express last weekend, of course for full price and now it’s on sale.  Love the print and these are so comfy for the warmer summer months ahead.

Totally getting Maggie this Bunny Ear Hoodie for Easter….can’t handle the cute!

Time for some Kate Spade love: these earrings would match my watch; I need these sunglasses; coveting this colourful bangle; and I want this polka-dot phone case.

Ugh it’s been a week! TGIF!

Has anyone tried the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream?  I’m thinking of giving it a try and it seems that people either absolutely love it out right hate it.  So torn.

Have you seen the sneak peaks of the new Too Faced Sweet Peach palette?  I want it for the packaging and peach scent alone.

Oh Marc Jacobs, you always suck me in with your beautifully designed purses.  At first I wasn’t sure about the canvas cross-body strap but I think I like it – it’s something a little different.  That colour is just amazing too.

I think we’re going to BBQ this weekend, the weather here has been unbelievable.  I saw Crocuses blooming yesterday!!! CROCUSES!! In March.  If I seem unreasonably excited about that it’s because flowers don’t usually bloom here until May.

I’m super annoyed because I thought the next Sephora VIB Sale was in March, turns out its not til April. I have so many things I want to buy but I don’t want to pay full price for them because I’m cheap.  Guess I’m sucking it up til April #firstworldproblems

DYK that Fossil offers personalized embossing on a selection of their leather goods?  What a cool gift idea!

Looking for a recipe for Homemade Cadbury Cream Eggs?  Here you go! (seems like too much work for me, I’ll just buy one from the store, eat half of it, and throw the other half away when it I realize I’ve forgotten how unbelievably sweet they are).

This & That Fridays – March 4

Happy first Friday in March!  Can you believe we’re almost 1/4 of the way through 2016?  Unreal!

So much good information for us bloggers in this post by Jillian Harris – love her blog!

What are you up to this weekend?  One thing we’ll be doing is binge watching the newest season of House of Cards on Netflix.  It’s a great series!

Did you have any favourite Oscar gowns this year?  Mine was Naomi Watts by a landslide.  I wouldn’t have been able to stop staring at my dress if I were her.  So gorgeous.

Have you seen Foreo’s newest innovation?  It’s called the Iris Illuminating Eye Massager and it’s meant to rid your eyes of signs of aging and fatigue.  Interesting concept…I’d definitely want to see some proof of the longer term benefits before I’d consider it.

I’m contemplating hopping on the FitBit train this weekend.  I feel like people either love or hate them – thoughts?  I really like the look of the Alta but who knows how long it will take until it’s available in Canada.  My concern is that I’ve heard bad things about their wrist bands – maybe I should consider other brands too?  Totally should have done a What Should I Buy post on this!

This & That Fridays – February 26

How is this the last Friday in February already?  Unlike January, this month just flew by, probably because it didn’t feel like February at all.  It was 16 degrees (celcius) here yesterday!

So update on Essie’s Starry Starry Night, I HATE the formula.  It’s goopy and thick and painful to apply.  And it chipped after 2 days of wear.  Huge fail and disappointment.

I want these shoes in every colour.

I have a drugstore haul coming up and I’ve been trying out the products I purchased, including this Hard Candy liquid eyeliner and WOW…I’m impressed.  Has potential to be my new favourite.

Have you seen Tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea cosmetics line?  So many pretty new products.  Really intrigued by the Water Foundation and the limited-edition eyeshadow palette.

It’s Oscar weekend – do you usually watch?  I honestly find the Oscars the most boring out of all the award shows, and I just watch it for the red carpet.  Looking forward to seeing all the dresses!

This & That Fridays- February 19

Happy, happy Friday!

I need to give Winners some love on my here because I stopped in on my lunch hour today and picked up Essie’s Starry Starry Night for $5.99!  You read that right – $5.99!!!  So excited, can’t wait to try it out!

I strolled through Hudson’s Bay on my walk back and I was mesmerized by this beautiful bottle of Missoni perfume.  I have no idea if it smells any good at all, I just want it for the bottle.

Buzzfeed is usually good for a laugh once and a while and this article cracked me up.  I can’t decide who wins – Mindy Kailing, January Jones, or Joe Maganiello?  #awkardness

February has been unseasonably warm here – which gets me thinking about Spring…and then Spring clothes…and things like this skirt, this top, and these shoes.  I wear colour all year round but when Spring comes I just want to ditch black and gray.

I need this so I can watch Youtube videos in the bathtub without worrying about dropping my in the tub!  Brilliant!

Update – I made Pioneer Woman’s Beef Stroganoff last weekend and it was just meh.  I added extra spices to it and it still had no flavor.  Boo.  Wouldn’t recommend it.
